Fashion Apps!

When I uploaded my "New Year New Me Haul" video on YouTube a couple weeks back, I forgot to mention the mobile fashion apps I had found that I'm currently loving!

This first one here is Tagbrand. I would love to see people like Zoella, Tanya Burr or even Miley Cyrus on here. Like Instagram you can follow and like outfits and it gives you a breakdown of which articles of clothing are from which stores.
The only downside is it doesn't seem to 'add' brands in very well :(

The next one I finally got my hands on was LOOKBOOK which really isn't new but it never crossed my mind they would have an app until I went super gungho and downloading fashion/shopping apps!
This and Tagbrand are very similar. I love and have both on my phone now.

This one is WISH and my friend Tina told me about it, through the grapevine.
You can buy stuff off here for super cheap, though I was told that they may not be 110% reliable.  I did buy a pair of pleather leggings and a red wine coloured top with spiked shoulder jewels.
The top arrived today, just like they said it would so as of right now, I've experienced no issues (knock on wood though) and like the others, you can follow people and it trends things similar to what you want to see!

I just posted a photo on Instagam (@kelsiiimckay) of the red wine spiked shirt.

Working Class Haul

Alrighty guys guess what?
I'm starting an actual grown-up job next week at a bank. And since I can't go to work looking indie-skater-chic, I had to go shopping! Now as much as shopping sounds like it'd be great, I honestly didn't know what to buy. Also factoring in that I didn't really want to shop for clothes to wear for work because if I had my way, leggings and oversized sweaters would get the job done well for me. But in a prestigious banking atmosphere, I have to get my 'professional' fashion vibes going.

These are a few items I picked up in one trip to the mall:

Navy striped shirt from H&M with a loose neckline

Oversized plain black t from H&M

Dark navy wash jeans and tan braided belt from H&M

Leggings that look like dress pants in navy from RW & Co. These are beyond comfortable! And nicely pairs with the striped top from H&M

Navy button up chiffon top from RW & Co

and Toms from Journeys.

My actual job description is data entry and a lot of moving boxes. Though in a professional environment, I'm lucky they aren't highly concerned with covering my tattoos or if I wear dressier jeans and leggings. I can also rock the cardigans frequently! So I'm pretty excited for some extra saving money before I go to school, but I also bought a lot of other stuff so far this year that has nothing to do with work, which is nice, so if you'd like to find out what I got make sure you subscribe to my youtube channel and I'll be putting up a New Year New Me haul video soon :)

Some of my all time favourite "quotes"

I love quotes!
Whether they're from books, songs or mouth. Sometimes, you just find ones that speak a million thoughts on your behalf, or maybe open your heart and ease your mind.
Here are some of my favourite quotes:

Just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have character
- Winston Wolf (Pulp Fiction)

Experience is a brutal teacher, but you learn. My god, do you learn
- CS Lewis

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are
- EE Cummings

It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well have not lived at all - in which case, you fail by default.
- JK Rowling

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent
- Eleanor Roosevelt

Sticking it to my New Years resolution!

My New Years resolution was to hang out with my friends more!

It's been 31 days into 2014 and I'm very proud to say it's been going so well! :)

Though the first week of the New Year I was still working doubles every day and working with co-workers I like doesn't really count as 'hanging out with friends'...

The second week however brought:
A lunch date with my friend Jarrid to Tim Hortons (the usual)
And in later days:

A mall date with my friend Anna when I bought this white chocolate mocha! And of course a few other things like a leather jacket from Dynamite and some new makeup
After saying we would board together in December and never did :(
Jesse and I finally got to hit the slopes together at Mount St Louis! After my four year hiatus from boarding... I think I might still be a bit sore but it was so much fun!
Mike brought me to his college to see Tokyo Police Club and Hollerado for FrostWeek!
I went out for dinner to Shoeless Joe's with Tyler R and Mike, where I got this fantastic blue drink called Blue Line! (Pretty much alcoholic blueberry lemonade mmmmm)
I had the most delicious lunch date with Jarrid, Tina, Arthur and Caitlin after Tina and I had been trying so hard to go out for sushi but I was always busy or broke... :(
That plate has an eel roll, tempura shrimp, avocado and salmon hand roll, California roll, Philadelphia roll (with cream cheese) and a crab stick roll!
Pure heaven haha :) and we're trying to make this a monthly thing

I had a great evening out for dinner with the West 49 crew, a few of us were going to go out for a game of pool after but we might have fallen asleep! Haha :$

Another evening out after a long work day with my favourite ginger, Anna! To Tim Hortons of course, where I should've eaten dinner but I had a cinnamon donut instead. My favourite! :)

Even though it's not a friend outing, I took my mom to see August: Osage County before she goes on vacation and it was absolutely wonderful. The entire cast was phenomenal!
I headed into Toronto for an interview at my school and had an early dinner with Jarrid at Jack Astors, where I tried this amazing Razzmopolitan martini!

I finally went to see American Hustle with Ryan! It was quite good, very entertaining but I think it dragged a bit...

AND THAT BRINGS ME TO THE END OF JANUARY!
What a month it has been, good and bad.
C'est la vie ❤︎
~~~~~~~~
In 26 days Jarrid and I are going to see Kings of Leon on their Mechanical Bull tour! I'm probably going to cry from excitement because I wasn't able to see them when they came to Toronto for the Come Around Sundown tour.
Basically, I think I'm following up on this resolution thing pretty well! I hope it continues because there are few of my friends who I have yet to see. I have 11 more months that hopefully will be filled with exceptional experiences and countless adventures and lots of quality time spent with my friends.
Much love
xx
Writing & Reading
So I've decided I'm going to start writing a book.
Honestly I'm not entirely sure how it's going to go or if I'll even finish it. Probably will become one of those things I start and never get back into and then forget about.
I do have some decent ideas for it though. No fantasy or surrealism.
Finally Finished!
Today is the first day since I started high school in September of 2007 that I have nothing to do.
And I mean nothing to do.
Since I started high school there was aways an assignment to do or a book to read. In the summers off of high school I worked or was auditioning for university. After I graduated from high school in 2011 I got a second job and worked from 11am-2am almost every day!
In January of 2012 I started college at Metalworks Institute. And since then, almost every day (including summers) I was in school. There was always a song to rehearse, a musical instrument sound or range to memorize, and an era to study. Half of 2012 I still had the two jobs. And come the end of 2013 I had two jobs again.
Since January I've taken classes on singing, sight reading, culture and history, acoustics, MIDI, computer software composing, theory and composing, studio techniques, ear training, business, songwriting, music production, percussion, audio post production, and ensemble band.
I started out with 18 people, and lost 4 along the way. I wish them the best with their future endeavours whether they be music related or not. To the 13 others who stuck through this with me, some are like myself and aren't graduating but we finished the program and became such a close group of friends, and we are there to support each other.
On the topic of me not graduating, I'm okay with this. I went to the school to learn, and I learned more than I could imagine. I will take that and roll with it. I don't regret the last 2 years either.
Last night after our final performance, I was driving back into Burlington and I felt a strange feeling of weightlessness. I don't have anything weighing down on me anymore. The constant feeling of "of shit there's something I need to do".
Today I got to lazily get out of bed. I've worn my onesie all day. I had a hot chocolate and wrapped presents. Made a Caesar and some cheesy nachos and then had dinner with my brother, mom and step dad which is a rare occasion when we all eat together.
I just finished watching Mulan and I'm feeling really good that today I got to do nothing. Sometimes doing nothing is exactly what you need.
Where do I go?
I had my first singing exam this morning. I forgot all the lyrics to the first song and butchered my vocal exercises...
After my exam, my teacher asked me if this is what I want to do with my life.....
Well I feel like I've been hit by a transport truck!
I want to sing and act for the rest of my life, yes. But there are so many others things I want to do. I feel like I need to do! But I'll do a whole post about that later
I'm only 20. And this whole year has been such a write off I don't even think it counts. I feel like I was paralysed all year and had to watch everyone around me do what they do!
Well so far I have from January to July of next year to figure something out... I either go back to school, or I go to Europe. Fingers crossed
